IMPORTANT NOTES

Registrations has to be done via congress online registration system. You’ll be able to receive your tour voucher from the registration desk in the congress venue starting from September 5th.

All tours will be organised on September 9th, 2023.

Departure time for all tours is 08:00.

Price includes transportation, guide and a lunch box which includes a Fresh Sandwich, juice, sweet biscuit and nuts.

All tours will be departing from the Congress Venue, Espacio Riesco.

Please note that tours have a limited capacity, we advise you to finalise your tour reservation before you arrive to Santiago.

Departure from Espacio Riesco to our first stop in the rural town of El Monte 45 minutes southwest of Santiago, where we will be received in the square by the local Beekeeping Organization and the communal authorities. Then the beekeepers of the local organization will take us to an orchard of flowering almond trees with their hives providing the pollination service, where we will see the management carried out.

Within the same locality we will meet the beekeeper Carlos Campos and his facilities, where we can consume lunch in his garden. Located in the peri-urban area of El Monte, Calos Campos manages 150 hives for honey production and sells it in the local market in its store and fairs.

Return to Espacio Riesco estimated at 5:00 p.m.

Maximum capacity is 80 participants for the tour. Itinerary may be reversed according to the participation.

Leaving Espacio Riesco we take route to El Cajón del Maipo east of Santiago, mountain valley of the Maipo River. Our first stop will be in the Andean apiary of beekeeper Francisco Ortiz, 60 km from Santiago and 1300 meters above sea level. We will enjoy a beautiful landscape in the middle of the hills of the Andes Mountains. We will see the typical flora of the mountain range where exclusive honeys are produced.

The tour continues down the valley to the town of San José de Maipo. In the square we will visit the fair of local enterprises that includes the stall selling Francisco Ortiz's honeys where we can make a tasting. Here we will have time to consume our lunch box or buy something.

The journey continues to the nearby town of Pirque, where we will visit Bernahrd Unland, an organic beekeeper, who produces his own beeswax foundations and queens. There will be a tour of its facilities and apiaries.

The return to Espacio Riesco in Santiago is estimated at 18:30 hrs.

Departure from Espacio Riesco to the Port of Valparaíso, west of Santiago at 110 km in a trip of an hour and a half. Visit to the Federico Santa María Technical University created 97 years ago thanks to the will of Don Federico Santa María. We will know the USM BeeLab, its lines of research in bees and its program of dissemination to the community.

Then we will make a City Tour through Valparaiso knowing part of its hills and elevators.

We continue our trip to Villa Alemana, a city about half an hour where the company Agroapicultura Ltda. is located. Large beekeeping company dedicated to the production of honey, pollination services, the largest store of beekeeping supplies in the country and sale of honey to large supermarkets. There will be a tour of the sales room, honey packaging plant and then to an orchard where the company performs pollination services.

Return to Espacio Riesco in Santiago at 18:00 hrs.

Departing from Espacio Riesco to the southwest on a 2-hour (146 km) drive, we will arrive in Litueche where we will visit Mundomiel. Company with 1500 hives dedicated to the production of honey with sustainable and responsible management of the care of bees, other products of the hive, beekeeping cosmetics and beekeeping. Tour of the facilities and the small artificial lagoon.

The trip continues to Pichidegua to the Casa de la Miel (Honey House) of the beekeeper Mónica Rodríguez, where we can consume our lunch in her quincho. Visit the facilities and apiary, knowing a very good example of rural Apitourism.

On the way back to Santiago we will pass through the Ruedas de Larmahue, irrigation system of the early twentieth century in the town of Larmahue declared National Monuments of Chile.

Arrival at Espacio Riesco in Santiago at 6 pm.

Leaving Espacio Riesco, you take the route south to the town of Chimbarongo in a 2-hour trip. Visit to the COLVE plant of Ernesto Caamaño, which manages 2000 hives exclusively for honey production in the south of the country. The plant consists of honey extraction room, packaging room, black frame wax recuperator, beeswax foundation production, beekeeping supplies store.

Returning to the north, near Rancagua we will visit the beekeeper Roberto Lara, in his cherry orchard where we will see the hives in pollination and its extraction room. Then we will know the field where he manages some spring apiaries and the fertilization apiaries of his queen production.

The return to Espacio Riesco is estimated at 17 hrs.

Leaving Espacio Riesco at 8 am on a 140 km trip to the southwest, we will visit the town of Alhué, a beautiful valley surrounded by hills of the Cordillera de la Costa. It stands out for its peasant cultural tradition and its beautiful landscapes, having a large amount of native vegetation, the Mediterranean sclerophyllous forest on the slopes of its hills, which allows a production of honey of excellent quality. Thanks to these characteristics and the geographical isolation of the valley, the beekeepers of the commune, in an associative way, managed to obtain the denomination of origin of their honey production. We will visit the Plaza de Armas of Villa Alhué and at the Pichi sector we will be able to appreciate the wonderful views of the native flora, together with knowing apiaries and extraction rooms of the beekeepers of the commune. Return to Santiago at 18 hrs.
